About SGCWDF

The St George Children with Disabilities Fund Inc (the Fund) was established in 2005. Our aim is to enhance the quality of life of children with severe physical and multiple disabilities, and their families, in the St George and Sutherland areas, and beyond.

We seek to overcome the challenges faced by children with a disability and their families by providing financial support for the purchase of equipment and programs which enhance the development and wellbeing of the children, and improve the quality of life for them and their families.

The Fund encourages families to be involved with its events and under its auspices to raise funds to meet the individual needs of their child.

The annual Grants for Good program offered by the Fund is a key means of support for individual children and their families. With the aid of this program families can purchase specialised individual equipment such as a wheelchair lifter to safely get the child into a vehicle; or home modifications to give their child more independence and made everyday tasks such as bathing safer and easier for them and their family.

The Fund also supports the St George School, Kogarah, which is attended by children with severe and multiple disabilities, and Bates Drive School, Kareela. Funding provided by the Fund has been used for various types of equipment and programs such as Music Therapy which offers the children new experiences and opens up a world of communication, and Eye Gaze technology which enables the children to access computers for learning, communication and fun.

The Fund is a small charity which relies rely on volunteers and has no paid employees. Other than to meet our very low administrative costs, all funds raised and proceeds from events support the children with disabilities.
